OUR YOUTH CHOIR EVENTS IN OTTAWA

Our season typically includes ORYC concerts, workshops and fundraising performances. As well, we are fortunate to receive numerous invitations to work with organizations such as the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, and the Capital Chamber Choir.

2026-2027 SEASON

CONCERTS & PERFORMANCES

This season, the ORYC will be performing four regular season concerts, plus hosting the annual Songs for St. Joe’s Supper Table (our annual fundraiser event) and performing with the Canadian Centennial Choir in May, for their 60th anniversary.

You can purchase tickets for our regular season concerts on Zeffy — tickets are available for individual concerts, or you can choose the bundle option which includes admission to all remaining performances in the season with a 10% discount!

The Songs for St. Joe’s Supper Table concert is admission by donation, and tickets to the Canadian Centennial Choir (CCC) 60th anniversary concert can be purchased through the CCC’s Zeffy page.

Concert Descriptions:

Duruflé’s Requiem – Requiems are often heavy, but Duruflé’s take is different. It is built entirely on warmth, comfort, and floating melodies. At the heart of the work are ancient Gregorian chants that have been sung for centuries. Duruflé transforms these simple melodies into something that feels both timeless and surprisingly modern. Sung by ORYC choristers, the music creates a soothing, meditative space to unplug for an afternoon.

Handel’s Messiah – There is a reason this work has filled concert halls for nearly 300 years. Beyond the famous “Hallelujah” Chorus, Messiah is a masterpiece of musical storytelling, moving effortlessly between moments of quiet wonder and exhilarating choral power. Joined by guest instrumentalists, the ORYC brings fresh energy to this beloved holiday tradition. Come experience the work that continues to inspire audiences, generation after generation.

Young Maestros’ Showcase – Join us as we shift the spotlight to highlight the creativity, leadership, and musical talent of ORYC choristers. As performers, conductors, ensemble leaders, and artistic programmers, they shape every aspect of the concert from repertoire selection to final presentation. The result is a uniquely personal afternoon of choral, solo, and small ensemble performances that offer a glimpse into the talent and initiative of the next generation of Ottawa’s choral community. St. Joe’s Supper Table Concert – Music is at its best when it serves a purpose beyond the stage. For this annual fundraising concert, the ORYC shares the spotlight with young singers from across the region for a collaborative afternoon of song. Every note supports St. Joseph’s Supper Table, helping provide meals and community support to neighbours in need. It is an uplifting afternoon where great music and local action come together.

From Darkness to Light – Experience two extraordinary choral works in a journey from night to dawn. We begin in the shadows with the deep sonorities and spiritual intensity of Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil (Vespers). From there, the music gradually opens into the luminous optimism of Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass. Together, these works trace a path from contemplation to renewal, ending in a message of hope and light.

Canadian Centennial Choir’s 60th Anniversary Concert – Join the ORYC and the Canadian Centennial Choir (CCC) as we celebrate 60 years of choral music. For six decades, the CCC has been an important part of Ottawa’s choral community, enriching the city’s cultural life through a shared love of great music. Featuring a varied program performed by both choirs, this concert honours CCC’s remarkable legacy while celebrating the enduring power of choral music to bring people together.
